Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov’s meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan

On March 27, ahead of the 28th Arab Summit, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov was received by King Abdullah II of Jordan in Amman. Mr Bogdanov presented him, as the head of the state hosting the summit, President Vladimir Putin’s message of greetings to the heads of state and government of the Arab League member states.

The officials exchanged views on Arab Summit issues, with an emphasis on the ongoing armed conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, as well as the current situation with the Palestinian-Israeli settlement.  Moscow and Amman confirmed their readiness to further promote the speedy political resolution of conflicts which continue to fuel the threat of terrorism and militant religious extremism, which the region is posing to the security of the Middle Eastern countries and the world community as a whole.

They also discussed a range of current issues related to the further strengthening of Russian-Jordanian multifaceted cooperation based on the agreements reached during the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and King of Abdullah II of Jordan on January 25, 2017, in Moscow.
